Ah, coffee. Or, as I like to call it, ‘black liquid gold’. The pick-me-up we (or I) need each morning to get moving and seize the day.

I’ve tasted coffee from around the world and have even been lucky enough to visit a few coffee bean plantations in South America. However, today we’re talking about coffee in Durham and where to find the best cup for your money.

Thankfully, Durham is full of quaint independent coffee shops providing an array of coffees to everyone’s tastes. But the best coffee in Durham isn’t just about the taste, it’s also about the experience of where you drink it.

From the gorgeous outdoor exterior (see featured image to this article) to the small but comfy interior, Flat White Cafe is a welcoming place to sit back and relax.

But what about the coffee I hear you say. Well, the beans they use to make their coffee are roasted by a local roaster just 20 miles away which means every cup is optimised for taste.

Merely a stone’s throw up Saddler Street, you’ll find its sibling, Flat White Kitchen, sharing the same commitment to quality. Both Cafe and Kitchen can get busy and you will often see a queue of people outside waiting for their coffee. This is a testament to their renown amongst coffee enthusiasts.
