City of Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy reveals cancer diagnosis
City of Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy has announced she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. In a statement shared on Friday night, the Labour MP said she was recovering after undergoing surgery on Thursday and "should make a full recovery". In her statement, shared on Twitter, she encouraged women to "make sure they attend their screening" as a potential life-saving measure.

Last month I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was a huge shock, but thanks to the NHS Breast Screening Programme it was diagnosed early, and I should make a full recovery.
